Calling All Artists, Designers, and People Who Like to Doodle
30 June 10 01:47 PM | Liza

Pedals2People is looking for submissions from local artists to adorn spoke cards for this year's SpokeFest. SpokeFest debuted as Spokane's own bike festival in 2008. Last year, over 1700 people registered. This September 12th, SpokeFest is anticipating many more participants, and they want to give all those who register a fun momento.

The spoke cards will include your work and your name. They will be distributed to several thousand enthusiastic cyclists, and your card might just become a highly sought-after trading card ; ) Here's what we're looking for in this year's design:

  1. Must have SpokeFest 2010 in the design
  2. When sending a digital image, best if the quality is at least 300 dpi (dots per inch) and no smaller than 4 inches by 4 inches.
  3. Original artwork can be scanned, but should be 8.5x11" or smaller
  4. Can be full-color or BW
  5. Look at the SpokeFest and Pedals2People sites to get an idea about what your work is representing
  6. Email your work or questions to pedals2people@gmail.com
  7. Must be submitted by July 15

More than one design may be chosen to represent SpokeFest, Pedals2People and bike merriment.

30 Cyclists This Morning
19 May 10 04:54 PM | Liza

We counted 30 cyclists on their bikes this morning from our post at 25th and High Drive--awesome! After feeding the commuters, I went to Wilson Elementary and distributed the remaining Cliff Bars to students who rode their bikes, skateboards, or razors. Beautiful morning, and a we were thrilled to see so many people on their wheels.

Thanks to BTWSpokane and Cliff Bar for providing some treats!

Pedals2People is looking for someone to help us with data entry. This volunteer opportunity would take approx. 6 hrs a month, would need to be done at the shop during open hours (during classes or when the shop is open), and would be a tremendous help to our org! Keeping accurate records is a critical part of running a nonprofit, and this job has gotten bigger since we've grown into our new space this year.

If you like data entry and would like to help a local nonprofit, please send us an email: pedals2people@gmail.com!

Loving Our Ladies Classes
06 May 10 08:31 AM | Liza

Tuesdays class was full, fast-paced and fun. Three women are training for triathalons this year. All were looking to gain more confidence and knowledge about servicing their own bikes. John, Beth and I loved meeting all these brave women and helping them to tackle unknown territory. We are loving these ladies classes! I'll post pics next week.
